Christmas in July // Brainstorm Holiday Marketing Strategies Now

Today is July 25. There are exactly five months until Christmas. 17 weeks until the weekend of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. 0 more days until you have to start thinking about your holiday marketing strategy.

That’s right. The sand hasn’t even been wiped off your favorite pair of sandals and it’s already time to start thinking about holiday shopping. Preparing ahead of time will help your team in the long run, though, when you have time to plan instead of rushing to put together a last-minute campaign. Here are five areas to start brainstorming about because fall is right around the corner and then we all know what happens next: winter is coming.

Cyber Monday

Companies go big or go home for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But one-day promotions don’t get a lot of traction if there isn’t a campaign leading up to the greatest deals of the year. Decide what your deals or discounts will be now, then develop an email campaign that will lead your audience through the path to purchase.

Video

A short video can go a long way. With auto-play on Facebook and Twitter, video can capture your audience’s attention in ways other posts may not. A Happy Holidays video, a thank you video, a promotional video are all ways to engage your audience. Maybe take a clip from a recent webinar or event and use that as a teaser to sign up to see the rest.

Thank You Cards

In the age of digital everything, a hand-written thank you note is the perfect way to start off the holiday season. For Thanksgiving prepare special thank you notes for VIP clients or long-standing customers. They can be fancy bi-fold cards or simple notecards with your logo. Writing a personalized message from an account representative or even from the president of the company can add a little cheer and create an even deeper connection between your company and your clients. It’s a way to bring back a personal connection outside of the digital world.

Email Promotions

As your focus turns to holiday marketing campaigns, don’t forget to keep your on-going email marketing campaign thriving. Any past email can be used to spark an idea for a gift for someone, so make sure the quality of your email sends are still the highest they can be. Encourage sharing emails or pinning images on Pinterest to save for later.

Gifts

Gifts are common practice for the holiday season, especially sending to VIPs. But think about putting a twist on the classic bottle of champagne or branded golf balls. Think about creating a two part gift: one you get now and the second part you get when you sign up for a demo or consultation. How can your company show appreciation while also encouraging further interaction?

To get the most out of your holiday marketing strategy, don’t leave it to the last minute. Start planning now and see the success of a carefully crafted campaign in January.
